SAND CREEK POST & BEAM RESIDENT ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Wendy Ketelsen, resident artist for Sand Creek Post & Beam, comes by her love of barns naturally.  As a child, her family moved around the Nebraska countryside to various towns and farms. At one point Wendy and her brothers attended a one room country school. Imagination was a must back then, they watched little TV and neighbors were far away. Some of her favorite memories are of playing in the hay loft of their barn and making play houses in the farm outbuildings. Her interest in art started early with encouragement from her mother who enjoyed crafts. When her high school did not offer art, Wendy attended daily classes at a neighboring school to help develop her skills. Her artistic talent found the perfect outlet years ago when her children were young and she began painting on saws, cream cans and anything else her husband would find at farm auctions. Using primarily acrylics to accommodate the various surfaces on which she paints, her favorite subjects include old barns and country scenes. As a member of the Northeast Nebraska Art Association, her work has been displayed in many different shows and galleries throughout the area. Wendy and her husband Jon and the parents of three children:  Jordan, Jamie and Jessi and reside in Wausa, Nebraska.
